The short version
- RUKU has no accounts. Your prayer history, streaks, name and settings are saved on your iPhone and, if you allow it, backed up to your own iCloud. We can't see them.
- Your location is used on your iPhone only, to calculate prayer times. It is never sent to us.
- Apple's Screen Time keeps the apps you choose private, even from RUKU.
- We use anonymous analytics to improve RUKU. They never include your name, your Brother/Sister choice, your location or excused prayers. You can switch them off at any time.
- We don't sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.

This policy explains how the RUKU app ("RUKU", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the RUKU app for iPhone and to this website. Some features described here, such as iCloud backup and the analytics switch, are part of RUKU 2.0 and later.
1. Who we are
RUKU is made by INFOXERA FZE, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates. INFOXERA FZE is responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at hey@infoxera.com.
2. Data that stays on your iPhone
Most of what RUKU does happens on your iPhone. The following information is stored on your device and is not sent to us:
- Your prayer history, streaks and progress, including prayers marked as excused.
- Your first name (optional) and your Brother/Sister choice.
- Your answers during setup. Some of them are also included in anonymous analytics, but only as ranges or choices (see section 6).
- Your settings, such as blocking delay and duration, Bypass Mode and prayer time adjustments.
- The apps and categories you choose to pause, stored as anonymous tokens provided by Apple.
- Your location or the city you choose, used to calculate prayer times.
Deleting RUKU deletes this information from your iPhone. Copies in your own iCloud are covered in section 3.
3. iCloud backup
If you're signed in to iCloud, RUKU backs up your prayer history, streaks and settings to your own private iCloud storage using Apple's CloudKit, so they're restored on a new iPhone. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account. We cannot access it. You can turn this off in iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud, and delete it from iCloud storage settings.
4. Location, Screen Time and notifications
Location
If you allow it, RUKU uses your location to calculate accurate prayer times, and to update them when you travel. Your location is processed only on your iPhone and is never sent to us or to any third party. You can choose a city instead, and change this permission anytime in iPhone Settings.
Screen Time
RUKU uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to pause the apps you choose. You pick apps in Apple's own picker, and Apple gives RUKU only anonymous tokens. RUKU cannot see the names of your apps or how you use your phone. Apple keeps this information on your iPhone.
Notifications
Prayer reminders and the free-trial reminder are scheduled on your iPhone. We don't use push notifications from a server.
5. Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple. We never receive your payment card details. To check whether you have RUKU Premium, we use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA). RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID created by RUKU, your purchase and subscription details from Apple (such as product, price, currency, trial and renewal dates), your country and basic device and app information. Like most online services, RevenueCat may process your IP address when RUKU connects to it. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
6. Anonymous analytics
To understand how RUKU is used and to improve it, RUKU sends usage events to PostHog, Inc. (USA). Events are linked to the same random app user ID used for subscriptions, so we can count how many people complete setup or keep a habit. This ID doesn't tell us who you are.

We have set PostHog to discard IP addresses, and we don't use session recording. Analytics are not used for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps or websites. PostHog's privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
7. Religious information
Because RUKU is a Salah app, information about prayers you log may reveal your religious practice. We treat it as sensitive. On your iPhone and in your iCloud, only you can see it. The only prayer information we receive is the anonymous analytics described in section 6, which we use solely to improve RUKU. In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we only collect analytics if you agree (see section 8).
8. Your choices
- Analytics: turn off "Share anonymous usage data" in RUKU → Settings at any time. Nothing more is sent after you switch it off.
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: if your iPhone's region is in one of these places, analytics are off until you agree during setup or in Settings. If you don't agree, setup information held on your phone is deleted and never sent.
- Location, notifications and Screen Time: change them anytime in iPhone Settings.
- iCloud backup: turn it off in iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud.
- Start fresh: deleting and reinstalling RUKU creates a new random app user ID that isn't connected to the old one.
9. Who we share data with
We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf:
- Apple: App Store purchases, iCloud backup, Screen Time and notifications
- RevenueCat, Inc. (USA): subscription status
- PostHog, Inc. (USA): anonymous analytics
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law.
10. How long we keep data
Information on your iPhone and in your iCloud stays until you delete it. Analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Subscription records are kept by RevenueCat for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal and accounting requirements.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because RUKU has no accounts, most of your information is already in your control on your iPhone. For anything else, email hey@infoxera.com and we'll help. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, we rely on your consent for analytics, on providing the service you asked for to manage subscriptions, and on our legitimate interest in keeping RUKU secure and working.
12. Children
RUKU is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used RUKU in a way that sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
13. Changes
We may update this policy as RUKU changes. We'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know in the app.
